LGBT Adoption and Fostering Open Evening Thursday 7th March

For LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week, CCS Adoption, Adoption West and Action for Children are running an LGBT open evening to give you the opportunity to find out more about adoption and fostering and the children who need adoptive families and foster carers. Come and find out more about LGBT adoption and fostering, the local LGBT Adoption and fostering network and the children waiting for adoption and fostering.

Please arrive from 6pm. There will be a short presentation at 7pm with a Q&A session with experienced LGBT adopters and foster carers; you’ll get to hear about their experiences and find out more about the application process.

Staff from CCS Adoption, Action for Children and Adoption West teams will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. You’ll find out what the next steps are if you decide that adoption is right for you.

Everyone is welcome but it would be great if you were able to let us know if you plan to come by booking an Eventbrite ticket, or giving us a call on 0117 935 0005.

6 – 8pm, Thursdays 7th March at Watershed, (Waterside rooms 1&2), 1 Canon’s Rd, Bristol BS1 5TX.

I chose Gay, you chose Islam
I cried my heart out, while you remained calm
I chose self love, you chose me out
I tried to reason with you, but you stayed devout

I chose the light, you chose restrictions,
Your words and your book are full of contradictions
I chose a wife, you chose your pride
I’ll face the anger of the ones on your side

I chose to be true, I chose to be me,
I chose to no longer be shackled, be free
I chose to let go, the past, the confusion
That sexuality and religion is a delusion

The left holds one and the right holds the other
When all is done, you will still be my father and mother
My love holds no bounds, I wish yours didn’t either
I wish you didn’t make me choose, to see you or see her

I’ll hold out for the day that these choices no longer matter
That we can just be, and no hearts have to shatter
It won’t be about religion or who is my mate
I just hope it’s before it’s too late.

Looking for contributors

Hello everyone!

I am looking for people to contribute to the website, you could share your story, share experiences, poems, what ever you feel would be fitting.

All content will be read and as long as it isn’t offensive or negative toward LGBTQI+ community, I shall publish it.

BBC article

Hello everyone!

So you may have come upon this site via an article that was released by the BBC.

Whilst the content is based on my story, some of the details have been fabricated and exaggerated for the sake of the BBC trying to appeal to a wider audience.

I personally was uncomfortable with the way I and my story has been presented and have raised this with the BBC.

If anyone has anything they wish to ask me, please contact me via the contact page.

New year, renewed vision

Hello, Aslamo alaikum and hey!

My 2019 goal is to shout loud and proud that being Gay and Muslim is possible!

Living your true self doesn’t have to be closeted, you don’t have to choose between being queer and Muslim, and you certainly don’t have to feel like what you are, is not allowed!

Everyone has different ways of expressing themselves, you don’t have to start a national movement on the “agenda”, or come out at your local mosque. Small acts of letting your light shine into the world is enough.

Visit that website, talk to that someone you know is queer, visit that group you keep secretly looking at, go to that club night for desi queers, tell YOURSELF you are Queer AND Muslim and that is o.k.

Sending you all queer love and hugs. Xxx
